My personal photo of the Poe House

The above is a line from the Edgar Allan Poe poem “Annabel Lee.” I love Poe and I’m sure part of that has to do with the fact his grave site is here in Baltimore. I know many cities lay claim to being the “home” of Poe but guess what? Possession is 9/10th’s of the law!

If you ask me, Halloween and Poe just go hand and hand. If you know his stuff you probably agree. His work is perfect for a crisp fall night. Don’t most people like to curl up and read “Tell Tale Heart?” No? Just me? Hmm. We all know Poe had his demons. Don’t we all? It’s way too late to help him now but you can help out The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum here in Baltimore. Like most cities, we here in Baltimore have budget issues and like in most cities the first things to get cut are the Arts. Now, the building is on the Historic list and isn’t in fear of being destroyed but the museum will have to lock it’s doors if they can’t support themselves. I’ve been to the The Edgar Allan Poe House & Museum and it’s a lovely look back in history. It’s small and in an area that I wouldn’t recommend hanging out in but it deserves to be saved. You can read more about the issues here.

How can you help? You can send donations directly to the museum at the following address:

Also, Literary Landmark Press is working on putting out a Poe anthology:

We’re producing an anthology, and you can submit your poetry or fiction to literarylandmark@gmail.com.
You can also pre-order the anthology—heck, preorder five or ten! You can also donate below.
Every cent from the anthology above printing costs and author payments (most are donating their payments) will go to the Poe house.

The book starts at $14.99 and they include pricing that adds a donation as well.
