It Was Bound To Happen

It’s a new year which means new starts which means a new domain.

I played around with the idea and while using has been fun, I like having my own domain. I like having more creative control over what my blog looks like and all that jazz.

You can now find me at:

I’ll give bonus points to anyone who can tell me where the title comes from!

Versatile Blogger Award!

, , ,

You like me! You really like me! I was shocked and amazed when I saw that The Wit Continum nominated my blog for the Versatile Blogger Award! But like most things in life, nothing is free. At least this is something fun though. It turns out there a few rules that are attached to this thing:

Here are the rules for The Versatile Blogger:

1. Thank the award-giver and link back to them in your post.
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Pass this award along to 15 recently discovered blogs you enjoy reading.
4. Contact your chosen bloggers to let them know about the award.

Easy enough! I’ve done part one, now it’s onto part 2!

1. I’ve met 4 out of 5 Nsync members. The only one I have failed to meet is that Justin fellow.

2. I probably care for animals more than people. It might sound odd to some. I just feel that in most cases we’re able to care for ourselves but animals/pets depend on people to help them out. It seems that most people fail in that area of life.

3. I don’t want children, ever. I’ve always felt this way and it’ll never change. When I hold a baby I don’t get that “OMGZ! MUST. HAVE. KIDS.” feeling that most woman seem to get. All I want to do is give it back. Being an Aunt on the other hand is the bees knees.

4. I love True Crime. I love reading books about the subject and watching shows about cases. I’ve always said if my computer was ever searched as part of an investigation I’d end up in jail. It’s funny because whenever I watch a crime drama in most cases I can pick out the real life cases the episode is based on, especially with “Criminal Minds.”

5. I’m very good at hiding emotions. I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

6. The only dance/event I attended in High School was Senior Prom. I didn’t attend any other dances. I don’t even think I went to the Home Coming football game until after I graduated. I just wasn’t into it.

7. I do regret not trying out for sports in High School though. I feel like I could’ve been pretty good at Track & Field even though I hate running now. If I had started back then, I’d probably feel different about it.

Damn, that was hard. Seriously. I hate writing about myself. I’m sure most of us do really. Hey! Does that count as an 8th thing about me? The last part is going to be pretty hard. I’m not sure I’ve discovered 15 new blogs but I’ll post all the one’s I have found! Don’t be surprised to see your name!

Forgotten Beast: I love how her posts pretty much always feature pictures! Pictures of yummy food!

Ginntastic: A wonderful personal blog! She’s funny and seems pretty awesome!

This Italian Family: I just started checking this blog out. The main reason I picked it? Their dog is ADORABLE.

Dirt On The Rocks: She always has a great contest going on plus an awesome blog layout.

My.Travel.Map: Another blog I just started reading. If you love to travel or want to live through someone else, be sure to check this one out.

Thoughts Appear’s Blog: She writes about zombies? I mean, what more do you need? A very open and honest blogger too!

Brightest Blue: More cute dogs! And a lovely blog too!

SuperDuperFantastic: I’ve actually followed her blog for awhile now and enjoy reading about her travels!

RachelSkirts: I love her blog design. It’s very simple and fresh.

Bavarian Erin: She writes for my Comic Con blog and is a wonderful person! I’m glad we were able to meet in 2011!

And that’s all I got. I really need to start reading more blogs. Maybe I’ll add that to my 2012 to do list! Anyway, be sure to go check out the blogs I listed! Maybe you’ll find a new favorite!

Back To The Gym

I think I’m going to rejoin a gym. I was a member at Gold’s for awhile but cancelled it earlier this year because I never went and it was a waste of money. Now that I have an awesome vacation coming up and a few extra pounds around the midsection, I think it’s time to suck it up and join another gym.

I won’t be going with Gold’s this time around. I scored a sweet deal the first time I signed up but it was still almost $25 a month plus the large sign up fee. While the gym was awesome, I was paying for things I didn’t use like the classes they offered. I would’ve loved to take a class but the latest seemed to be around 6pm everyday and with work and traffic, I’d barely make it. Instead I think I’m going to go with Planet Fitness. It’s only $10 a month will a small sign up fee or I can pay $99 for a whole year! They have all the basics which is all I need. If I ever did want to take a class, I’d probably just look for something on the outside. There are plenty of yoga studios in the area and other places that offer nothing but classes with various hours. Oh! Another awesome thing about Planet Fitness? They’re open 24 hours during the week! That’s perfect! I’m hoping that means they might be less crowded.

Anyone else thinking about joining the gym or taking some work out related classes?

Man, nothing like having a day off and a Holiday to make you wish for another few days off. I hope everyone had a great Christmas! I must say, I had a pretty awesome one! Even though I knew what most of my gifts were I was still surprised by some! Oh and I’ll never need socks again! This is going to sound super nerdy but I was most excited about receiving a quesadilla maker! I had asked for one but didn’t expect to get it. I can’t wait to use it! I also got a few gift cards for different places like Southwest (FTW) and Starbucks and some nice jewelery as well plus a calendar featuring my nephew!

Now I can focus on packing and getting ready for my trip out to Chicago to visit the BFF & friends! I can’t wait! Here’s hoping this week doesn’t drag ass!

Did you guys get any awesome holiday gifts?

Scott Cann Is Helping Me Save $$

I wanted to think of a fun way to save money for my Hawaiian vacation. That’s when I got the idea to make a fun envelope that I can stash all my money in! The money I’m saving will be used for all the fun stuff I want to do. I already have a handle on paying for the actual vacation. I figure all the extra money I come across will be placed in this beauty. I already have two dog sitting jobs lined up for January which is how I make most of my extra money. Of course Christmas is right around the corner too!

Isn’t it lovely? I told y’all Scott Caan was helping me! You didn’t believe me, did you? I’m doing some other things to help save money here and there like not eating out for lunch all the time. It’s amazing how quickly eating out can add up!

What fun ways have you thought of to help stash cash or save up?

How Long Til Dexter Comes Back?

I still think this was one of the more “eh” seasons of Dexter. It had some good moments but I quickly grew tired of Quinn being a douche and Deb being all weird. I kept waiting for more of storyline with Louis but that seemed to always be on the back burner. I’ve read a few articles though that mention him coming back next season which was has me excited. I never really connected to the Travis character. I know some have complained about Hanks but I thought he did a fine job as an actor. It wasn’t the acting that bothered me, it was just the character in general. Plus each preview showed something that could’ve been huge but never was. A perfect example is “Wormwood.” That could’ve been epic at the Station but it quickly fizzled.

I will say the finale’ ending left me in shock! I mean, Deb has finally caught Dexter in the act. AND THAT’S HOW IT ENDED. It ended with Dexter saying “Oh God” and Deb looking like she was going to either pass out or throw up, I’m not sure which. Hell, maybe she’ll do both. And now we have to wait. This it the cruelest form of punishment ever!

I can’t wait to see WTF happens. Is he going to tell her everything? I mean, it’s not like he can claim self defense or anything. He had the guy strapped down to a table! Is she going to run for it and make Dexter track her down? Is he going to tell her about Harry? How he “pushed” him towards this? Is she going to put everything together herself?

It’s obvious the end game is now in effect though and I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Oh Hey 2011 Travel Bug!

, , , , , ,

I can’t believe 2012 is almost here! It’s kinda scary to think about. To be honest, I’m still waiting for the flying cars to show up.

I didn’t do too much traveling this year but I did enough. I checked out Nashville for the first time while visiting a friend and had a blast! I have always wanted to check it out and I’m glad I did. I already want to go back! I checked out the Bluebird Cafe where stars like Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood performed. It’s a great little place and if you find yourself in Nashville I recommend checking it out. It’s a very intimate music venue with a great crowd and even better talent. Of course you can’t go to Nashville without checking out The Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum! I love country music and I loved this stop. The amount of history they have on display is out of this world. They even have more in storage! You could easily spend a whole weekend here. Again, another Nashville must see. While you’re checking out the Hall of Fame, be sure to look into taking the RCA Studio B tour. Why? Believe ir or not, over 35,000 songs were recorded there over the years. If you’re an Elvis fan, over 200 of those songs were his! We even had the chance to sit at a piano that Elvis had used. The Studio is very small and the tour isn’t too long but if you love music add it to your “To Do” list! Some other stops I made included The Ryman, Jack’s Bar-B-Que, Hatch Show Print and numerous cowboy boot shops. It’s a good thing I’m not rich or I would’ve had to ship numerous pairs back home.

I’d have to say one of the highlights though was staying a night at The Gaylord Opryland. It. Was. Amazing. The place is huge! You don’t even need to leave! They have numerous shops, pools and restaurants. Hell, they even have a little boat ride! The staff was beyond nice as well. Even if you don’t want to stay there, I recommend just going to see it. The inside gardens are beautiful. Actually, it’s just beautiful period. I know during the Holidays they have different events going on. If you’re in the Nashville area you should check it out for sure!

Another trip I made was back out to San Diego for San Diego Comic Con. I managed to snag a room at the amazing Hotel Solmar. It’s a little on the pricey end but if you can stay here, do it. You’ll be within walking distance of pretty much the entire Gaslamp area. We were there for a week without a car and had no problems getting around. We took a cab a few times (It was no more than $5) and took the bus to the San Diego Zoo. OMG. The Zoo. Amazing. The first time we went to San Diego we didn’t check the Zoo out but I’m so happy we did the second time around. It’s huge! Seriously, be prepared to walk all day. The amount of exhibits and animals they have is great. It makes my local zoo look pretty sad to be honest. Now I understand why everyone says it’s a “Must See.” As far as sights go, that’s all we really checked out. We were in town for the convention which didn’t leave much time for anything. I love San Diego though, especially the weather! I need to get back there for a “normal” vacation where I have the time to see the beach and other sights. SDCC was awesome though as I got to meet a bunch of celebs and feel like the “cool kid” for once.

Earlier in the year I did something more local and headed up to Gettysburg with the BFF who was in town from Chicago for a visit. It was my first time there, shocking I know. We barely scrapped the surface on this visit. I had no idea how large the area was! We did go on a Ghost Tour later in the evening which was really informative and fun. I love going on Ghost Tours. It’s my “thing” when I go on vacations. That and taking boat tours. What can I say, bitches love boats & ghosts. While on the tour we were able to check out a location that had been seen on “Paranormal State” which was pretty neat. I tell you what though, there’s a million and one ghost tours up there. It’s not surprising really given the area but it was still nuts to see. Which one did we go on? Miss Betty’s! She’s a great story teller and really gets into character. If you find yourself in the area be sure to check her out. It’s worth the money and the time. Instead of staying at a hotel, we opted for a Bed & Breakfast. It was the first time for both of us and it was lovely! The hosts were very nice and sweet. I would definitely stay at a B&B again. Plus the food was off the chain.

I guess 2011 wasn’t that bad for traveling after all! Plus I still have my New Years Eve trip to Chicago coming up too. I did make it to NYC and Philly too but those weren’t anything special. I’ll touch more on them in my Comic Con’s of 2011 post, if I ever finish it!
